Water jet cutting is a cutting method using a jet of water or a jet of water/abrasive material mixture as a cutting tool instead of a cutter, the jet being ejected with high speed and under high pressure.

Water jet cutting advantages:

-        no thermal influence on the material (temperature in the cutting area is
60-90 °C);

-        significantly lower material loss;

-        wide range of materials and thicknesses for cutting (up to 200 mm and more);

-        high efficiency when cutting sheet materials thicker than 8 mm;

-        no burnout of alloying elements in alloyed steels and alloys;

-        no melting and sticking of material at the edges of the machined parts and in the adjacent area;

-        thin-sheet materials can be cut in a stack of several layers to increase productivity, including by reducing idle strokes of the cutting head;

-        complete fire and explosion safety of the process;

-        ecological safety and complete absence of harmful gas emissions;

-        high quality cutting (edge roughness is Ra 1.6).

Almost any type of material can be cut with a water jet:

ferrous metals and alloys, hard-to-cut alloy steels and alloys (including heat-resistant and stainless alloys), non-ferrous metals and alloys (copper, nickel, aluminium, magnesium, titanium and their alloys), composite materials.
